Assisted Living for Veterans and Surviving Spouses

A Veteran who served at least 90 days of active duty, with one day at war time, is eligible to apply for Aid & Attendance pension.  This is a non-service connected 'pension' and is not dependent upon service related injuries for qualification.  Aid and Attendance pension is intended to be used as a funding source to offset the cost of living at an 'Assisted Living Care Home' (RCFE), Nursing Home, or for In-Home care.  Give us a call (916-284-4129) to see if you qualify and to locate a provider.

In Home Supportive Services

In-Home Supportive Services (IHSS), a government program, will pay for in home care for those who qualify.  Non-profit foundations may provide services based on a person's ability to pay.  These services can provide the assistance you need to allow an elderly chronically ill or disabled person to live at home.  Services can include home health-care aides; home-delivered meals or meals in group settings; purchasing or renting wheelchairs, walkers, hospital beds or other devices; and obtaining temporary help to relieve caretakers.

Medi-Cal program for elderly - Assisted Living Waiver

Medi-Cal Program for elderly can provide assisted living, care coordination and other specified benefits to eligible seniors and persons with disabilities who currently reside in Sacramento, San Joaquin, and Los Angeles counties.  This Medi-Cal Program is called Assisted Living Waiver (ALW).  ALW eligible individuals are those who are enrolled in Medi-Cal and need the level of care provided in a nursing facility.  You can find the participating facilities in our database list.  You can also give us a call at 916-284-4129 to learn more about the program and the participating facilities.
